Uhu 15$, finally… next year I can buy a porshe? A logo project for 25$ sells less then the same project for 10$. Result: Nine times out of ten lower profit. If you follow non-exclusive authors here on different sites, you know what I mean.

I make some files wen i can, and when i want.
VH is in charge to make the marketing,sell my files, and send me the money.
I agreed with that in 2008 with a 40% (not 50% like now) commission as a starter.
If I wouldn’t be happy with that,
I know where to go to have my files with higher prices.
If VH decide to increase the prices I m happy of course.

Ok, when I think about it, $10 is a bit too much for start. Why not try $5 increase at least?

I’d would adjust the price per single category of file rather than a general increase of prices of all the items.
In my case, I would increase prices of timelapses, especially in HDR . I understand timelapses are really popular but they still need some advanced skills to be done properly and a lot of effort from the author…and your processor! When I have to blend 3 Raw exposures into HDR for a 10sec clip it might take me 6+ hrs of rendering plus all the rest of editing, and when I see my HDR Timelpases having the same price as normal footage I get a bit concerned..!

Plus $5 for the AE, C4D , Motion projects and Motion graphics/ Live footage ’’packs’’ would be reasonable… General motion graphic and creative live footage “clips” are OK as it is now… May be fair to get minus $3 for a lot of very basic live footage shots now ’’overpriced’’ as $5 that is often higher than some complex animations or mentioned ’’timelapses’’ just confusing the buyers IMHO …

15$ is a bit extreme perhaps , but an increase is definitely in place.
At the moment it seems to be:
Good Quality – 15$ – 20$
High Quality – 20$ – 25$
Very High Q – 25$ – 35$
Master Level – 40$ – 50$ (very few files at this lvl)
While the price difference between the levels seems small (5$-10$), the amount of effort put it is a lot greater and for many authors it isn’t worth it and they rather put out decent files more frequently rather then higher quality but less freq.
So that increase is needed in my opinion, even if it is only by 5$

one solution that’s very smart is to a) raise prices on items that sell very well (til they stop selling well), and b) lower prices on items that don’t sell well.
the buyers tell you about pricing, if it sells a bunch then the price may be too low, if it sells hardly any than the price is too high.
the more it sells, the more raise the price, til it stops
