That doesn’t make any sense. Why not just give VH projects for free then?

Because that way we don’t get any money. :D

If you work hard, you’ll get a 25-32-35 project and if it’s good it will sell. I earned well over 50k in 2 years here and risking with the prices is just not worth it.

Voted +$5 in both cases… Things need to be balanced… Right now authors (especially pro people) seem to be demotivated which in turn reflects in overall loss of quality and diversity. Just my 2 cents :)

I voted +0$ the less money you spend the better.
Don’t forget we have buyers from ‘poor’ countries to.
Authors who are demotivated by the prices must look for other possibilities.
The cheap prices are the formula of videohive and all authors here knew this from the beginning.
I say, don’t mess with the prices.

I think Videohive is popular by it’s low prices. It’s affordable.

Theme Forest is more expensive.

But ThemeForest is much much more popular then Videohive.

Logic failure?

Affordability is relative and perception of value is ultimately all about expectation. Since it’s pretty much Videohive that sets the price expectation for After Effects templates, it follows that Videohive is also in a position to change that expectation too.

I understand that Envato wants to optimize the cost / volume equation, but this shouldn’t be done at the expense of the author, and it should be done with an eye on the future and an eye on the shrinking real-terms returns per file. I think there’s a danger that Videohive could get trapped by the price expectations that Videohive itself has set.

I’m sure Envato is on the case with this anyway, but it doesn’t do any harm to give the author’s stand-point. Authors are after all, Envato’s bread and butter.

Naa, not really. If something is popular, you can raise the price and maybe you will loose some potential buyers but overall you will make more money. Heck, I’m pretty sure there are some buyers who say that the higher price is a sign for its high quality. I mean look at Apple and other companies.

Themeforrest was popular and then they increased the price. Nothing wrong with that. But VH is still a niche.

I guess this is what Mocarg meant.

Voted $5 because projects have gotten much higher in quality since the beginning of the site. I think $15 is a little too much, $10 is alright. I’m just afraid that the site might lose customers if we raise prices too much, but then again where else are they going to get quality motion graphics without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars? There aren’t that many viable options.

voted 5$.

Guys are you crazy with 15$?? Have you realy(REALY) thought about it ?

Ok we have logo that costs ~12$, ok so now it would cost 27$ ? so everyone will start considering piracy and will be bothered enough to search few hours in some f*kin wares site for some logo… such websites will go up in searches and rankings of google, also websites like 5rr will skyrocket. All those extra searches made in search engines by those who has to pay 27 instead of 12, now will get those sites up and up. They will be spamed all around. Now VH is superhighly ranked. And guess what… It’s only because of low price. gosh… guys .. think :)

^ I voted $15 only for one reasone – if we increase prices I will be able to earn enought and quit my full time job, also we are the cheapest place on the Earth. Selling Broadcast quality Logo reveal for “Bowl of Fresh Market Berries” or Template project for “Breakfast” is not nice, i don’t feel comfortable.

Anyway working from home is much better than full time job in my case.

Guys, 5 dollars would make so much difference and I think it would be absolutely enough. 10 and 15 is too much I think.

voted $10. How you don’t understand what Felt is saying? I don’t want to give 100% for videohive anymore because of what Felt is saying (go back and read his first post). If the prices were up, a lot of talented authors would again raise the quality bar. And I’m 100% sure it wouldn’t affect the sales.
