Hi, there! These’re links to ad:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzp9G4RRiAI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Bo0nEcVPb4

Listen to music in the video. At the beginning I’ve heard Tim McMorris song “It’s a Beautiful Day” ( http://audiojungle.net/item/its-a-beautiful-day/120089 ) ...but it’s not “Beautiful Day”....it’s a NEW song “It’s a Wonderful Day” :)

And how compose songs for ad in your country?=)))))

Could be pastiche but not plagiarism. Probably the client said “we want something like Beautiful Day”.

I’m inclined to agree with Art-Of-Sound. This falls into ‘sound-a-like’ territory, and I think a professional musicologist wouldn’t have a great deal of difficulty defending this from a plagiarism accusation.

On second listen I have to agree with you guys. As a jingle writer myself I get asked to do this all the time, though this one does skirt really close to the edge.

Oh well Tim, imitation IS the highest form of flattery I guess! :)

I thought “sound a-likes” in general put you on dangerous legal ground. It was my understanding that if one could show clear intent to copy, then there was a case for possible legal action. It doesn’t matter if the chords are a little different or the melody is a little different. There is clear intent to copy in this case. This one is pretty mind-blowing.
