I think I’m the only one who likes the new tagging system :D… for me was always hard to explain the track or the mood, it was most horrible part for me to write the description :D

Its a lot more easier for me with using tags

No, no, of course “we” love the new tagging, but we just need some clarification ;)

Good questions everyone, keep them coming! :-)

You are limited to a maximum of 15 keywords/tags presently. This is enforced across all market places. The reason we’ve kept it at 15 is so we don’t have any users “game” the system and have hundreds and hundreds of keywords. Simultaneously, we want the keywords to be relevant, so 15 seemed useful yet manageable.

When reviewers review and approve your audio, they are asked to remove anything they feel is irrelevant. They also check for spelling (we use US English by the way), and we basically want to ensure the best possible description of your audio through keywords / tags. The reviewing process allows us to moderate your keywords / tags and ensure fairness across the site.

You always have the ability to change and update your tags / keywords through the usual way (Go to your item page -> Click the Edit tab -> Make your changes -> Click the “Submit Files for Review” button). Reviewers will moderate your new submissions.

Someone asked about how keywords in the file description will work when the new tags go live. I will need to check on that and get back to you to be sure, but I would imagine that the new tags will take precedence over the file description. Both will be used, but perhaps weighted differently. Again, I will find out for sure and post an update to this thread when I find out.

You are encouraged to tag all your existing audio files, but please note: Site search is not currently utilizing your new keywords / tags. At some point in the future (I have no date yet, sorry) we will flip the switch to index all your tags so that search will pick up all the new keywords. This is just a recommendation, but, the sooner you start tagging your existing audio files, the quicker you will get the job done and will be prepared for the switch to the new system.

You should know by now that envato likes to deploy changes very quickly in an phased approach, so yes, there may be some more tweaks and improvements along the way, but as always, these will be made for the benefit of both authors and customers.

Please note that your feedback is always encouraged. If there’s something you like about the tagging system, let us know. Equally, if you find any bugs or would like to suggest an improvement, you are welcome to contact me directly via sitemanager@audiojungle.net .

Hi Scott and the rest of the gang here ….

What I believe is, that the tagging for the jungle should be a lot more wide …

What would be really worth and a necessity implementing for us Jungle authors to choose from when uploading would be:

DURATION (<—1 sec. / 10 min. -—>)

PRICE (well, not a “necessity” right now, unless we soon will have some heavy update to the license system for the Jungle, and this would of course be for the Reviewer to set)

GEO -ETHNIC (<—Africa/ Zambia—->)

TEMPO (<- Very slow/Medium/Very fast)

LANGUAGE (speak for itself)

This is just some …

I believe that the jungle is roaring for this asap ....

I just recently discovered that when searching in the jungle, you cannot search inside a specific Category.

If above suggestions comes true ;) this would give some great search possibilities if used ….

And when talking about search engine, this really need some seriously adjustments asap for it to be a tool “worth” using ….

I had my first real encounter with the engine when trying to find some cool tracks for the ongoing competition, this is a “nightmare” ..... please don’t get me wrong here(lot’s of cool tracks), but more than half of the contributers in here do not use any keywords in the description field, I see this a s a lack of communication between The Jungle and the contributers. They are REALLY important for any/buyers to be able to locate specific files and the more important now, because the tagging is not implemented yet.

Further more, you cannot search inside any specific category, I know you can “sort the results, but this don’t get you closer to your needed item.

If potential buyers have to go through the same to locate their wishes?, holy cow ….. :)

Please see the above as some ideas from a enthusiastic Jungle contributer and please let me hear from all authors in here …..... please!

And please be aware that I am very well aware that the Jungle staff is working hard beside the curtain …. me and many others are working hard too, to constantly improve our envato profile for us all to benefit from …...... let us know if you need any more help!

All the best …..

You can search within a root category by clicking the all files dropdown and selecting the category you want. You can even effectively search within a subcategory by just typing it’s name into the search box.

For example, if I wanted a ‘whoosh’ sound transition (http://audiojungle.net/category/sound/transitions-movement), I’d select sound from the dropdown and type ‘transition whoosh’ in the box. This gives these results: http://audiojungle.net/searches?term=transitions+whoosh&type=sound

You’ll see all the matches from the subcategory transitions are returned first.

Thanks for the tips, Ezza!

Good suggestions, Lyden! I think Duration and Tempo are criteria that we should definitely be pursuing to allow customers to search for exactly what they need. All I can say is that this is something that is already on my todo list and I will be pursuing a solution for this as we move forward.

One quick point, I had mentioned in an earlier post in this thread that I was going to get confirmation on how “static” tags in your file description were going to be weighted. Well, as first thought, the devs confirmed that tags in your file description are still going to be used/weighted, but they will be weighted less than the tags in the new tagging system. So using the new tagging system is going to be crucially/most important to you and your files, and less so (but still useful) in your file description.

And yes, reviewers will be keeping an eye on your keywords in your file description so no attempts to game the system, please. :D
