Hi there
I’d like some advice/recommendations for offsite/online data backups, I’d appreciate a recommendation rather than going with the first company I find on google.

Dropbox – https://www.dropbox.com/ – Amazing piece of software in my opinion. Works both on PC & Mac. Read more in the link.
Thanks ibib!
+1 on Dropbox. You can put the dropbox folder on an external drive and have an automator/script/app copy the files there for you every day or so. That way you get two backups.
+1 for dropbox as well. If you can refer 12 people, you can get up to 5 gigs free. It’s by far the easiest online backup tool you can get.
As for offline, I’d suggest picking up a good sized harddrive 1TB comes to mind. Anyways, if you have a Mac, Time Machine is awesome, so long as you set it up right. I tweeked mine to only back up every 6 hours, and even then i told it to only back up certain folders (backing up my applications folder seemed a bit insane). That’ll cut down the amount of space it eats up.
I don’t know of any good backup systems for PC, but I’m sure they exist.
amazon s3 http://aws.amazon.com/s3/
Excellent service I use s3 as a backup and for sharing files with my clients, Its very cheap
First 50 TB / Month of Storage Used $0.150 per GB
My bill is cents each month, and you can upload via ftp, transmit is already set up for your s3 account.
I highly recommend. and better you don’t have size limitations.
Thanks leslienayibe
amazon s3 looks good but I’m not sure if the service extends to South Africa. But I’ll definitely look into it
