OK so I’ve brought up this issue many times and I will bring it up again because it’s still an issue. I have also sent my concerns about this issue to staff but no action has been taken to date. Why do we allow non-buyers to make comments on files? I have a non-buyer who has found a free version of my file on another site and he is discussing this on my file comments page. I have flagged his first comment mentioning the free file and it was removed but now he is back and talking about the free files again on my file page. What must I do now, flag his comment again? If I could contact him I would but I can’t through his profile. I don’t want to discuss this issue or tell him to not talk about the free files on the file page because I don’t want others to know about it. But he’s just going to keep mentioning the free file. Also there are other users who already have the free file and are asking for support but don’t have a buyers badge. Yes it’s common that most popular files end up on free sites and warez, and there’s not much we can do about it BUT we can stop non-buyers with pirated files from getting support and from telling others about it on the files pages by disabling non-buyer comments.
Why does FlashDen allow non-buyers to make file comments? It’s ridiculous. I feel the security of my work is constantly under threat because of these non-buyer comments who can post what they want. Actual buyers 99% of the time just post support related questions and do not spam, post links to the others pirated files or post negative comments. Do we just allow non-buyer comments to say “nice file” or “I like this image gallery but I will buy it if you could make it play youtube videos” we don’t need non-buyer comments, it should be a support page for BUYERS ONLY … we are not obligated to provide support – so why do we have to constantly monitor our file comments to see if any non-buyers have posted anything abusive??
And if someone on staff could kindly remove all related conversations on my file page between the 2 users about the free files and also contact the non-buyer in question to stop posting about it on my file page – it would be greatly appreciated… [rant over]
I totaly agree, I have been thinking about another issue with file rating. Only 10% of the people here rate the files and I think this is wrong.Also when someone gives you negative rate he should give a reason because I got 1 star on my banner rotator because my customer though it was AS2 version ;/ And it clearly say ActionScript 3 only. That’s just sad
Personally i used to disagree and thought the pros outweighed the cons, but i have changed my mind, this needs to be put to a halt.
The comments were removed thanks – hopefully he’ll not mention it again but we’ll have to see… just wish FD would give authors more security here, maybe we could personally remove non-buyer comments or be able to opt-out of non-buyer comments. I know some authors like to get the positive comments from non-buyers but it’s not really necessary, the genuine buyer comments are the most important.

hmmm. yah, if you didnt even buy then why not let the author remove comments, I like it.
I feel for you, DS. It’s really sad situation and since these issues keep happening, there should be some way for author to stop those. Maybe FlashDen could give authors a way to remove comments but explaining the reason why it was removed, to prevent spreading illegal links as soon as possible.
How about showing the comments of buyers publically and hiding all the non-buyer comments on public view. However the author can see all the comments and can reply everyone. The Non-buyer’s comments are actually not helpful for the other buyers and members, so it is less important and just hiding that solves everybody’s problem easily.
