My name is Jordan Lewis, I’m a new front-end developer on the Marketplaces team.
We’ve just launched a bunch of new Ratings features, all of which have been long running requests. You can see Justin’s original announcement for more detail and a bit more context.
Rounding to half starsWe are now rounding to the nearest half-star rather than whole star. So now an average “4.6” or “4.3” will now be rounded to “4.5”. Some items will go “up” a half star, and others “down”, but overall, the graphical representation will be closer to the real numerical average.
We have redesigned the sidebar of an item page to add a little more detail rather than just the overall average rating. Buyers will see the number of people who have rated the item at each step (5 stars, 4 stars, etc), the total number of ratings received and the precise numerical value of the average (e.g. “4.6” or “3.9”).
Here’s a shot before:
And a shot after:
Great! It works!
one 4 star item and three 5 star items turned into 4.5 stars. No problem. Nice to see breakdown. Would be great to see total breakdown for all items.

Thank you guys. The first time authors can see every single rating they have for the item. I hope the next features would be released soon to make the whole thing functional appropriately. Cheers!
This feature is very nice but is it possible to hide the breakdown by default and add a “toggle” to show the breakdown in case the user is interested? I feel like this would hurt sales for some people.
Well done guys.

Something I noticed on some of my items:
When I check out my 4.5-5 star rated items, there is a single buyer who rated 1 or 2 stars and I ask myself why do I need to suffer this low rating because a total noob purchased one of my items and had no clue how to edit it eventhough it’s 100% simple and organized and didn’t even bother to ask for help. Just shows that there are people with zero (0) knowledge in photoshop that I prefer they stay out of my portfolio. Just ain’t worth the purchase.
This can hurt sales especially for items with only few ratings (+3), for example:
It’s great, thank you guys
Great feature, thanks for making it!
