Hey guys,
Need a quote for the following please:
1) An upload page where any user (no login), enters their name and can upload unlimited number of photos. The name they enter is used to create a directory on the server where the images are uploaded to. There should be progress to indicate how many images have been uploaded out of how many etc…
2) A gallery page where any user (no login) can select a directory and then view the photos in that directory using lightbox or similar
Could you also let me know how long this would take you.
Please let me know if you’re going to use Flash for the uploading and no databases please.

If there’s no database , how do you tell user a username isn’t available

Could be done in PHP with is_dir() and file_exists()

But, presumably user would enter username , and you would get message, username taken…
You could be there for months …
You could rewrite new user but then you would have tons of incomprehensible users like..

no need for database, check whether directory exists as Tutelage mentioned 
This isn’t hard to do, I just dont have the time 
its not going to be a huge user base so the likely hood of two users with the same name is quite slim and should there be more than one then their appended with asd1, asd2, asd3 etc
