my windows 8 upgrade story

well it goes.. I bought the new windows 8 from the Microsoft store for 39.95 it was easy to install it worked great for the first day.. I turned the machine off for the night and went to log back in the following morning.. when I started the machine.. it kept on showing me that it couldn’t fix errors and wouldn’t leave that screen..

I called Microsoft and told them what was going on.. they said for me to go to another computer and download a iso file needed to reinstall windows 8. well I did that and it didn’t work I contacted them again and they said I need to order the backup cd for windows 8 I waited 10 days for the disk never showed up.

so I had no computer for almost 2 weeks. I finally went this morning and bought the windows 8 disk .. everything is working great now.. I was about to go nutz with out a computer for that long

I’m sorry to hear about your troubles. I’ve had a different experience.

On the 23rd I signed up for the Windows 8 upgrade offer. On the 26th I was notified that Windows 8 was available and ready for purchase. Paid 14,99 euro for it. Installed the same day. During installation I followed all instructions. When the installation was done all my settings were maintained along with all my apps. Done. I also got to back it up on disk same day.

Here’s another story, on the 31st of October, I contacted Microsoft Support because I was unable to subscribe to Windows 8 dev center. Subscription costs $99. Their payment methods stated they supported paypal, which didn’t work for me. After a few emails back and forth, they set me up with a dev center subscription “on the house”. Greatest support I’ve had anywhere.

Sorry about your misfortune. I’m going to stick with Windows 7 for a while on my desktop and laptop. It just works well and I don’t see any benefits with windows 8 unless I’m using a touch screen.

thanks for your feed back guys.. i also have a hpslate 2 touch screen.. which i have to send it in for repair once i get it back.. im going to install windows 8 on it

What? Windows 8 is out? Well, time to upgrade from my Win 95.
