I’ve seen a lot of posts asking how to get featured.

I can’t answer that, but I can tell you my experience as a featured author. Like most I thought that front page exposure for a whole week would drastically improve my sales. This is has not been the case.

The amount of visitors are fewer than I thought it would be and even less sales. I’m glad I got chosen. I still think it’s good exposure, but it didn’t generate the amount of sales I was hoping for. This week has been one of my slowest weeks regarding sales.

I know that sales depends on many different factors. Demand, supply, the genres I sell and so on.

I haven’t got a singly happy clappy ukulele song in my portfolio. If I had, I might have had more sales.

So what is my point? Don’t let the front page hype lure you into false hope. Work hard, upload great music and collaborate. These are factors that affect your sales more than front page exposure.

Haven’t been featured? Don’t worry. Your time will come and it isn’t the end of the world if you don’t get featured. You can still generate good sales through hard work.

Well, that’s a few lines about being featured.

Wish you all the best, Jimmy of Synchrotron

Don’t forget that you’ve probably been bookmarked quite a bit while you were being featured, so you still might enjoy some sales later – your tracks were probably of interest to lots of people, but maybe not for their current project.

Congrats on the feature all the same, your music is great.

Yes, I’m sure. I’m not disappointed. As I said it’s still good exposure.

I just wanted to shed some light on being featured for those who hasn’t been. I see a lot of posts asking about it. That’s why I wanted to post this.

Thanks.

Thank you Synchotron for your wise words. It is hard music work the way to improve sales but before that it is important to be settled and focused. It is nice that you say “collaborate” as an importante selling factor

You are spot on, because I also had the illusion that during my featured week I would have TONS of sales, and I didn’t. I think I had like 1 a day. It still feels great to get picked though and like you said it’s great exposure to potential customers.

Congrats on the feature :)

Exactly the same experience here too. If I remember correctly, my profile page views were incredibly high during that week – presumably from other authors checking out my page, but item page views were pretty low considering. Still, it’s a good way to get our names out there, and of course, we get to wear that nice little piece of bling!

And, yes, well done on getting that feature!
