Posted this over at ThemeForest, but I think it would go well in this thread as well
Our licensing is in the process of getting some much needed love and clarification. While it will not be a complete overhaul, it should give us some more options or details to work with while going forward.
As you can probably understand, having so many Marketplaces with so many different products makes it very difficult to deal with licencing. We realize our current system is just not going to hack it.
Chaman will be working with a wide variety of people including authors and buyers to get a feel for what kind of changes we should be making. It’s not something we want to push out too quickly, but it looks like we may be only a couple of weeks or so away from having some fixes in place for extended licencing. We are also looking at regular licensing but that will come after extended gets some much needed attention.
Thanks for all your feedback. We should hopefully have some more details to you shortly
Now that is some excellent news!
I agree, this is great news. Thanks KingDog for stepping in with the info. I speak for myself here, but I’m sure there quite a few Audiojunglers who have been following this thread recently not really knowing what is what. This is mostly down to the license details not being clearly defined for our marketplace.
As a newcomer to AJ and really looking forward to spreading my business here, I’ve been feeling a little doubt over the last day or two since this thread began, especially regarding the use of extended licenses. Look forward to the further details on all of this.
LOL !!!! You guys are really gettin’ into this post…hahaha
.....Maybe I miss understood this site, but I thought the ‘authors’ on here were in agreement and were aware that their work could be used within another work once the extended license was purchased AND that no royalties/rights could be claimed on the productions created using their music, because this is a ROYALTY FREE Audio site. I would think that if you didn’t want anyone using your music in another production where you couldn’t claim rights and royalties you wouldn’t put it on here. That’s how I read and understood the license ‘rules’, but maybe I’m wrong
I am a singer/songwriter and I compose music as well and I assure you I’m no ‘Twatty Fraud’
I would NEVER put my lyrics, music, etc on here, because I want all rights to my music/songs and I don’t want anyone else using it as their own in ANY production. My understanding was that the authors on here were in agreement that this is how their ‘music’ is being used and in turn they can sell their ‘files’ to hundreds of thousands of people, make money doing so, but relinquish right to the production (music track included) that is created using their file.
Hope staff gets this cleared up soon one way or the other, otherwise we might have a case of false advertising by the way the licensing page reads

@kysongbird78: Hahaha, yep look at what you started. You created a monster! lol.
Seriously though, it’s probably a blessing in disguise really, because by the looks of it, this is an issue that has needed to be addressed for some time. Will be good once both musicians and customers alike are confident of what can and can’t be done with AJ items.
kysongbird78 saidBecause it is extremly unreasonable to use music from (here) for your song and have no opportunity to have income from it in the future. (It would be resell, for example if you would place it on iTunes etc.)

Is it more reasonable when someone sells movie DVDs with your music in it?
Art-of-Sound saidYeah, it is more reasonable, question is deeper according to this situation. Or let’s buy good melodies just for 70$ and resell it to the music stars or something like that… Just for example. Is it the essence of the work on Audiojungle?

So, explain the difference between buying melodies for JUST $70 and reselling them to the music stars and buying melodies for JUST $70 and reselling them to MOVIE stars??!? Seems kind of silly to try and separate the two….honestly, wouldn’t you be just as ticked off to hear your royalty-free music on a movie, as you would be a single music track, especially if it was a blockbuster hit and made millions??? That would suck!!!!!
I see no justification between the separation of the two in reality, nor in the license agreement here on AJ.
