Hi folks-

The suggested bitrate is 128 for the preview. I’m wondering if that is a rule or if you guys do higher preview bitrates? I find that my mixes sound a bit thin that the 128 preview and was thinking of upping them to 192 or more. Is that allowed or should I stick with 128?

Thanks, S6

i guess you’re allowed to use an higher bitrate, it shouldn’t be a problem. Someone correct me if i’m wrong!

I’m always using 320kbps, and I think since we’re allowed to, we should prefer the best quality available.

It says in the upload procedure instructions:

Your preview file must be in mp3 format, have a minimum bit rate of 128 kbps and you MUST include your entire track in your preview file.

I guess I missed the minimum part.

Thanks,Gerry

I don’t know about that upload instructions page (link?) but when you go to upload page you’ll see that it says 320 kpbs with no exceptions under the bit rate field.

I remember one of my tracks soft rejected when I uploaded with 256 kbps by mistake.

Normal music/sound previews can be 128 or more, no worries.

TRAX previews can ONLY be 128kbps.

320kbps only is for the main content in the .zip

That’s pretty much it. :)

@ ADG3studios

Hmm, that explains it. I always referred to the upload page which says “all mp3 content must be 320 kbps”. But i guess there’s no point in reducing the bit rate for the preview since they are watermarked already.

Thanks

Yeah, I started out using 128 as previews, because I too mistakingly misread that you had to use 128. Apparently, it was just the minimum. Big difference in sound quality between a 128 and 320 preview. I’m updating the few big seller items… probably driving staffers crazy… right, ADG3Studio? :)

I always use 320 for previews, because at 128 you really start to hear distortion in the high frequencies from cymbals and such.
