Hey, I have a quick question to you, experts: I want to buy new Yamaha keyboard, with the MIDI output/input, and I don’t know if it means I can connect it with my DAW and use it as a midi controller? If no, for what purpose can I use it? Thanks in advance
Hi! Most people only use USB for their MIDI keyboards nowadays. I’m guessing that the Yamaha keyboard has a USB connection as well? Otherwise you would need a MIDI to USB adapter for your DAW .
Every modern midi keyboard has an USB , you’ll connect it with DAW only by USB I think
I’m searching for midi Keyboard with MIDI out for my vintage synth-module, in turn, but unfortunately not every midi keyboard has MIDI out
Without USB you can use it as instrument keyboard when you have sound interface with midi (or buy simple midi usb controller for 30$), but USB keyboards have more useful features (transport controls, custom sliders and knobs).
Hi, DamianN! You can use Yamaha keyboard, with the MIDI output/input as a midi controller
For example I have MIDI keyboard CME UF series, which connected to DAW by MIDI and it works as well as MIDI controller.
Alex_rich saidYeah. But it’s mainly for low-cost compact models.

I need only 25 keys, compact size, and minimum options
Alex_rich saidWell, look the following models: M-Audio KeyRig 25 / KeyStudio 25, ESI KeyControl 25 XT or M-Audio Oxygen 25 for example.
