If this has been brought up already it should be mentioned again. I was perusing some of the music of the AJ front page and got blown away by one of the watermarks. The track volume was kind of low (causing me to turn up the volume) and then the watermark came BLARING through (causing me to hastily turn it back down).

For those not doing so, I would personally recommend adjusting the volume of each individual watermark to match the volume of that particular part of your song or fx. Song’s volume up…turn up the watermark. Volume low….turn it down.

On a side note to this, I had a buddy over here a couple weeks ago to show him AJ. He’s interested in selling some of his sound fx and music here. I was showing him random songs and fx. One thing he noted with a laugh, and particularly with some of the sound effects was how he couldn’t even HEAR some of the effects over the watermark. “What am I buying, some girl saying Audio Jungle or a sound effect!?”. hahaha…

Very difficult for a customer to decide if they want something if they can’t really hear it.

Thought I’d throw that out there. Watermarks are necessary but I really find some of the volumes to be too distracting and off-putting.

Questionable thing you say there. I know reviewers are pretty much considering this thing. I mean, one of my first track (if not the first) was soft rejected for having the watermarks too high. I’m not saying it can’t happen…its just that I know reviewers are pretty vigilante regarding this thing. Anyways, good piece of advice specially for people who just started their uploads here.

For sfx I really don’t see the point in a watermark. Especially as some have the effect happening in between the watermark! What’s to stop people ripping it out of the preview? Most people who shop here aren’t misers looking to cheat the system. They buy what they need and move on. If someone is sad enough to rip off some authors sfx for 1-4 dollars they can have it…

As for music I feel that perhaps AJ should/could implement what other sites have done which is have them put the watermark for you using your original audio file. Of course this leads to it’s own problems, I’ve heard the watermarks on other sites and they are incredibly obnoxious. I actually do prefer that AJ lets you do it yourself and I think it’s up to the author to put it at a reasonable level so that it’s not obnoxious and so that your music can’t be ripped either!!

Well if course not TOO low. Just put some thought into it, that’s all. Some watermarks appear as if the author just dropped them in without a thought, even keeping the original volume. I say let them sit nicely with the music. Loud enough to be noticed but not so loud as to be distracting. I believe AJ mentions this very same thing in the knowledgebase.

Good point. And the time and effort to do so would be better spent ripping off an entire library of sound fx from a torrent or upload site. Not condoning it. Just mean it seems silly to waste your time grabbing previews from AJ.
