Hi!

I’m working on a responsive design for a client. The code is ready so I can resize my browser in different sizes, the design respond accordingly.

Now, I added some code that detects the device. I do this so that when it’s for example an iPad, the top navigation menu turns into a select menu instead of an UL listing.

Now due to financial issues of building my house I can’t afford an iPhone, iPad or other mobile devices, so I’m looking for a tool that can simulate a mobile device.

I’ve tried the “Switch user agent” plugin in Firefox, but it doesn’t work very well. Same thing in the build in “feature” in Chrome.

Anyone knows such a tool? Oh yeah, I’m working on OS X Lion, so if it could be an app?

Thanks!

Budget of the client doesn’t supper hiring a second person to test it. I’m working alone :p.

But I found it, seems that I wasn’t using the build in feature of Chrome correctly. /facepalm

While this is really good for the browser window sizes, it doesn’t emulate a mobile device, but for screen resolutions it’s perfect!

Thanks guys!

When my house is finished I’m gonna get me a mobile device :)

The only way you can emulate a mobile device for the iPhone/ iPad crap is the “Electric Mobile” (its also great cos` you can use it on window).

For the android you have to use/install the sdk.

Also there is a browser issue for mobile like opera testing FF testing and now chrome soon ie will join the party not even mention safari .

If you ask my just stick to the basic/visual if it html it’s just horrible way testing so many time 5 on desktop 5 on mobile. There is really no win win here
