hi there,
not sure if anyone else brought that up yet, but what kind of sense makes the logo section of graphic river?
is it supposed to be for companies and individuals? because if so, it’s a totally wrong approach.. since people gonna have the same logo… and they might even think oh a logo just costs $30, so why not request someone to do a custom one, it can’t be that much more expensive, maybe $50 or $100.
didn’t see the benefit from it from the beginning!
True. Unless someone buys an extended license it’s no true business.
Maybe there should be a category of one-time-usage logo for – I don’t know – $200+ per item? That would make sense then.
EDIT : Oh, well. There’s no extended license. So my idea is even more interesting now
currently the marketplace does not offer extended license on logos. but what would be great. i suggest an author can choose their item to be sold on an extended basis once sold, it will be removed from the marketplace or grayed, or purchase disabled. The extended price could go for about $200-$300

or set it as one-time sell only and then make it Sold Out…. but envato not going to do that, because they only have items that keep selling
I guess that’s why they call it logo “templates” and not logos. Because it suggests that there will be further work on them. Nevertheless I’ve never liked the logo category. For the reasons above and also because just about everything seems to go accepted that there. Probably my least favourite pace on Envato…
cheers
Chris

You are right, dozen sites have logos to sell. And that’s the reason why Envato had to establish this new category inside the Marketplaces. The Marketplace sites attract millions of member, and have become an ecosystem where all kind of templates are provided. Then it becomes really inconvenient when someone wants to buy a logo they have to reach out of all Envato sites and visit competitors’ sites. And if you follow closely then you may see there is even a beta service for tweaking things like logo templates, commercially, from Envato. This means, they really want to keep the buyers inside the ecosystem, not going anywhere, especially visiting other non-Envato sites. They saw the benefits all around it from the beginning.
There is literally tens of thousands of companies using the same website templates at ThemeForest. I do not see a problem with this, as the company more than likely already has a trademarked named, they are just looking for a different branding to match the name of their business. I’ve also done a lot of work tweaking logos for customers who have purchased my files. I get atleast 2 or 3 logo revision requests a month, other times I find that customers are very small businesses that are just local and not national. They just want to have a more compelling edge against their local competition.
I was thinking the same! Two companies with the same logo, most likely in the same vertical is not good!
read (logo) license what we selling
and chris already said that we selling JUST logo templates
I don’t get it either.
