I was browsing the site looking for graphics (UI elements, icons, etc) for use in a Mac Application. I have spent a lot of time reading Licenses, FAQs and searching the forum but didn’t come to a conclusion.

Scenario:

  1. I’ll create a Mac application. The app will use graphics elements purchased here. The app will be distributed in the Mac App Store. At this point, I still don’t know if it will be free or paid.
  2. I’ll have to create a web site for the app information. The web site will then have to have app screenshots, videos and also news that will include the same app graphics.
  3. Additionally, I’ll have marketing materials, such as white-papers, flyers, press-releases, press-kits, that, in general, will be downloadable in PDF format. Those will also include the same app graphics.

Creating and promoting an app means using the same visual identity through several medium. Pricing model (free/paid) can vary from time to time. Apps get updated with new features and bug fixes. A single app may be split into Standard and Pro versions.

So, my question is, which and how many licenses should I buy?

I believe the Extended License will do quite nice on that. Probably 2 if you publish 2 versions of your app.

BUT, since yesterday we’ve got some pretty huge changes on our licensing models over here, so it would be nice if someone can confirm my assumption.

In general it wouldn’t matter if you plan to publish your app for free or as a paid version. It even wouldn’t matter if you publish screenshots and flyers where people can see the ui elements and the artwork you’ve purchased here.

But as I said – please confirm me :)

Wow, the answer was quick, precise and clear!

I’ll just wait for someone to confirm, before I start “shopping”..

Thank you very much!
