Today we’re releasing another long requested feature, the ability for authors to notify buyers when they update their items.
We’re going to roll this feature out using an incremental approach, starting with very basic features and we’ll keep an eye on how widely it’s being used.
So, here’s how it works right now…
When an item is purchased the buyer can elect to receive email notifications:
When an author updates an item through the review process, they will have the option to send an update notification:
When the item update is approved by the review team, an email is sent to the buyer letting them know an update is ready for download:
Some questions you might have:
Why won’t buyers get these emails by default?
This is the first feature we’ve implemented that involves broadcasting email notifications to a large number of users at once. We want to gradually increase our email volume so that we can monitor our email reputation and ensure we’re not getting blacklisted by various SPAM filters. Once we’re happy with the performance, we can look at usage and possibly send these emails to a larger number of people by default.
Does this feature exist on all items?
We’re focused on the categories that typically need regular updates first, like themes, plugins and add-ons. If you can’t see the checkbox on your item and think its a good candidate, let us know!
That’s all for now, we have more item support features in development this week and look forward to sharing them with you shortly.
Thanks for your patience, Shanon
Excellent! Thank you, glad to see this!
This is great addition. I hope to see this feature on GraphicRiver items too.
