Hello all,

I am in the process of updating a website I’ve previously modified with an HTML theme purchased from here. I have a few concerns though. I already have the theme picked out that I will purchase to modify if possible – mainly upgrading for responsiveness to phones and other devices, and blog integration. I can not have the site hosted on WP, it must be hosted on the company’s server. Is it possible to have a WP account, update it weekly (monthly, or whatever) and have it send the updates to the company’s site (even if it’s delayed – does not have to be immediately). Just trying to keep from having to hard code all of the updated news or events.

Could I do this with an HTML Site Template, or must I use a WP Template. I was under the impression that the WP Templates were only for sites hosted on WP.

Thanks in advance!

WordPress themes are exactly what their name says – they are WordPress themes. You can install WordPress on any web server, including your company’s server. Themes sold here cannot be installed on wordpress.com, as wordpress.com doesn’t allow custom themes to be installed. What you have to do is get a WordPress version from wordpress.org, install it on your client’s web server and install any theme that you’d like.

Appreciate the response. Does that mean I could purchase a WP theme, install WordPress on my company’s server, and be able to add a “blog” entry and have it automatically update the site? without having to edit the HTML ? Thanks

Exactly. I would recommend you to start by learning more about WordPress. First read Word Press Codex, have it installed, play around in the admin section. Good luck!

Cheers

Thanks! I’m just torn between having an HTML site or WP site… I know HTML very well but am fairly new to WP. We only add a “blog” once a month or so and for now I just go hardcode the updates.
