Hi, today I was dealing with (probably) the simplest problem in the world but could not find solution in my own or Google knowledge. So I’m turning to you. Is it possible to import second or third page from multipage pdf document in after effects? Normaly you got first page with no option to choose. I know you can open it and divide in several singlepage documents with Illustrator, but it looses font appearance. So is there a solution other than asking client to export from InDesign again in several singlepage PDFs?

I’m customizing my 3D book project for client. He sent me several inner pages from the book in one pdf document. To use them in the project i need to put each page in separate comp, but when I import this PDF to AE it only import the first page. the question is how do i import the second or third page from multipage pdf document?

Hi Plac!

How about to open your PDF file in Acrobat and do File -> Save -> JPG (it will save as separate jpg’s) :)

Or select menu Document -> Extract pages -> Extract pages as separate files (PDF)

I’m not sure you can do that directly in AE. Maybe there’s a plug-in or something.

I’m pretty certain you can in Photoshop though. The fact that Photoshop will rasterize the pdfs should mean that you don’t have problems with the fonts… although you need to make sure you rasterize at a high enough res so you don’t see pixellation.

If you don’t have Photoshop, then you could screen grab them.

I thought fonts were embedded in a pdf…. although I’ve also seen examples of missing fonts when opening a pdf in Illustrator. I wonder how it’s saved and whether that makes a difference.

Photoshop can def. open individual pages of a pdf. Ideally the original will be high res (for print) so you can save out good quality jpg / png if you need to zoom in.

Hi Daniel,

I have “Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro” inside “Master Collection” licensed pack. But i think this tip will work with trial version too. You can download it from Adobe off. site

I thought this would be useful for others as well. Thank you for responses. I actually used my own technique, but thank you 5p1r17 for pointing my thinking in the right direction. I used Mac built in capability to print anything to PDF so I opened the file in Preview and printed in separate pdfs each page.
