Hey everyone,

Small Price Change Imminent

I’m pleased to announce that after much careful research covering author feedback, number crunching and competitor analysis, the price of all existing and new items in our Music category will be increasing slightly in the very near future. I don’t have a specific date at this moment in time but I will update this thread/announcement as soon as I find out. But it’s very likely to be at some point between now and the end of 2011.

Maintaining Affordable Pricing

The bottom line is that the quality and quantity of content on AudioJungle has increased quite considerably so authors will be rewarded with a much-deserved price increase on each item they have in the Music category. Even AFTER our new price changes, we are still one of most affordable royalty-free music Web sites out there. Not only should existing customers not notice too much of a difference with the new pricing structure but new visitors to AudioJungle should also find our pricing very, very reasonable.

New Prices for Music Category

Here’s how our new prices will look:

  • $5 – Music < 15 secs (an increase of +$1)
  • $7 – Music 16 to 30 secs (an increase of +$1)
  • $10 – Music 31 to 60 secs (an increase of +$2)
  • $13 – Music 61 to 120 secs (an increase of +$2)
  • $16 – Music over 120 secs (an increase of +$2)

So the biggest increase is basically $2. And with the volume of files authors are now selling, we hope that this will provide a modest yet noticeable improvement to monthly author earnings.

Keeps On Getting Better…

Meanwhile, please stay tuned for some more exciting news! A little bird tells me Collis has a very exciting marketplace announcement to make in the next couple of weeks that will be of much interest to many AudioJungle authors, and AudioJungle customers will be excited to hear that our new search tool is almost complete. Barring no unforeseen circumstances our new search functionality should (finally!) be ready for release in the opening quarter of 2012. I’m definitely excited about that improvement. :)

Slowly but surely, things seem to be changing around AudioJungle for the better. I think it’s definitely going to be worth sticking around for but I know many of you already know and sense that. :)

Really good for us, but… What about buyers? I Think we’ll sell less items = earn the same cash…

Doubtful. They have increased price points in the past numerous times, and current sales figures have probably more than doubled since I joined up (When 2+ minute tracks were $10 (+$2 without a deposit)).

If anything there will be a slight dip in sales for a few days, then everything will proceed as usual.

Great move. For every buyer that AJ loses due to the price increase, I suspect that 10 more will take their place.

It’s still an incredibly cheap place to get music, and if you look hard enough there is some stuff with phenomenal production quality here that a lot of people pay $1,000 for and still don’t get.

VERY EXCELLENT news. This puts to rest some of my inner grumblings of late :)

Also, this forces everyone to sharpen their skills and create even better content for the buyers.

My only goal for 2012 is to make my 2011 portfolio sound like it’s junk in comparison to my new work :)

Looking forward to that announcement Collis!

Thanks for the update Scott!

Thanks for a good news, Scott! Just one question – what about music packs prices (especially old cheap packs)? I think, the prices for them can be also increased (2-3$), otherwise the price of one old music pack with 3-4 tracks will be = the price of 1 track..
