All,

This may be a very ignorant question, but I cannot figure out the purpose of “following” other authors on the Marketplaces. Am I missing something? Is there something in the works for the follow feature?

Thanks,

John

Right now you see the author’s files you are following on your home page. There’s a section on the top right hand corner. Other than that, not sure.

It’s mainly a feature for customers. They can follow their favorite authors so that when those authors release new files, the customer can see those new files on the home page as Rob pointed out. Of course, anyone can use it, but it has most utility for customers. :)

It would be cool if authors could leverage it more. Mailing list, file update notices etc…

I know you can go back and check your download page for updates, but it would be easier to push that type of info.

Thanks guys, I had no idea that the section there on the homepage had anything to do with the following feature.

You are talking about this section correct?

I also think the social aspect of it is pretty cool. I have spoken with a few folks that I found through other peoples’ followers, and people have found my profile through either their followers or authors they themselves follow. There are a ton of people in the community, and more join every day. I think it not only cuts down on degrees of separation, but also allows customers to find like-minded authors through those they already know. Much like any social network, it can expand your personal network exponentially over time. I hope this is a feature that continues to evolve, with new functionality added periodically. I would love to be able to cull an in-network notification list from it eventually, if not a full blown mailing list.

That’s what I was thinking. I’d like to be notified when themes are updated that I purchased. That would be a nice touch. I’m going to change a few of my tracks and I’d love to be able to notify any buyers that I’ve done so.
