Instead of earning some money he want a cut from each sale, sorry but it depends on amount of my work how many sales I will get out of it and not his. I will release the new project under the MIT license of his script.
you can’t upload your item without using his code, yet you say “sales only depends on my work” ?
MPC was right in some context, we can’t sell a world class chocolate without packaging skills. I am not saying that is right or wrong but both the parties had some damage in different form, unfortunately.

One thing is sure, even if it is released under MIT , considering the rarity and potential of script, I guess most of the authors here would first inform the original author within 2-3 weeks of file upload; not only to show the implementation but for the sake of thanks giving and possibly to donate. Starting a 2nd work without doing such thing could trigger obvious misunderstandings to the creator.

^ If you try to find an MIT licensed flip book that runs on iPad you will realize what I mean.

I am not talking about usual stuff. Also if there are any such script available, I am sure mpc (or any author in this situation) wouldn’t even care about this issue and just swap the script with different one.

tsafi, that’s not the same thing. We’re talking about a single dev who decided to share his code under the wrong license terms.

now one can either say “f..k you, law is on my side” or respect the fact he doesn’t want that code to be used in a commercial product anymore.

I know this will sound like I’m a douche-bag but the author of the script doesn’t deserve anything. As long as it’s legal and written black on white morality becomes nonsense. This is business and this is how profitable business work for hundreds of years. Nobody tricked him to release it under the MIT license. Once the ball has start rolling it’s easy to pretend royalties, isn’t it. No sh*t!

Of course, donations are a good thing to show your appreciation, but this is subjective to each person.

You’re right, it does make you sound like a douche-bag. The author made a mistake when he didn’t realize how useful and good his script was, and a second mistake in publishing his code under the MIT license. We already established that legally he doesn’t have the right to any monetary gains. Morally, that’s a completely different matter.

Honestly, I’m a little disappointed in the community here. This thread reeks of greed.

bitfade .

from what I see from the people who post here and i know most of you guys for some time ,we don’t use much MIT license as we make our on stuff so we are very sensitive to this topic ,but regarding this guy ,he wasn’t born yesterday he know how the system work ,and he change his license due to seen kuba making money of it, i say cool with that and i understand his pain no more commercial product anymore is just fine ,but what he is doing now to the man is pure blackmail on his exciting file …

But bottom line it’s a loss situation for kuba making new files or updating his file base on the flip script. There is some minimal ethics among developers in the way we are doing things and this guy don’t know much about ethics, but its good learning situation and warning for all of us if its not your work ….its really not your work i guess

Kuba for your existing file just show the man a finger ,and move on bro and stop working with the script for any new project but that’s just me saying this .

Well, who’s fault is that he made a mistake? Yours? Mine? The author that uses the script to make money? No, it is his fault.

I’m sorry that you feel disappointed of the community, but this is not greed. In the real world it is called business ;)
