Hi friends I need your suggestion to improve the quality, I know that my items are not so much good but at the same time not so much bad, but why my sales are too low? can any one preview my portfolio and tell me where I need to improve? you can give feedback either in general or in depth.

Buyers: please give us your valuable feedback why you are not interested to buy my items.

Good criticisms also welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Well I’m not such a top author or something but I’m gonna say my opinion on this.

I think your themes are just “ok” themes, not “Great” I don’t know if you noticed but you have almost 50 items on themeforest. Maybe you are one of this cases that learned on his flash that “Quality not quantity” really is ture.

I suggest stop makeing “minimalistic” and “ok” themes. And try working on really “Great” theme mostly in term of design and graphics.

I believe you will see the changes.

Bluz.

Hey Kayapati!

Just wanna ask how many days you work on one design in Photoshop or in whatever software you use…

Also, your items got mostly 4 stars and that is usually caused by no support, cheap code/back-end or something that pissed off the buyers. Do you have an idea what might that be in your case? Maybe that’s exactly what you need to look more into, nobody gives 4 stars just like that, without a reason.

Well, this is not true.

I give 24/7 fast support, the code is of excellent quality (my WP partner who works with other authors here said so), and I still got 4 stars for each item…

This is why: jerks are going to rate your item more likely than people who are satisfied with it. And these people often don’t know anything about web development, so their ratings are not objective.

One of my themes has 5 ratings and more than 50 sales – so these 5 ratings doesn’t mean anything, it simply don’t represent the reality. On the other hand, if you have a popular item, with > 500 sales or more, the ratings are surely going to be more accurate (and 5 stars mostly).

@Freshface. 4 star doesn’t mean what you have described. I spent 45 days exclusively for providing support for my first WP theme (leaving everything aside). I got very nice response with 5 stars. But in the end, it reverted back to 4 stars (which doesn’t mean I didn’t provided any support). I am still continuing that. I have done numerous customizations for free and gave unlimited support – to get my foundation strong here. As discussed many times here, one should not judge a theme’s quality by ratings itself. There are many themes out here with no ratings, but I admire them like 10 star.

@Kayapati. Anna, I am too junior to suggest anything to you. May be, you just need to launch something out-of-the-box next time, apart from your genre. And don’t launch it fast, take full time in polishing. :)

Guys guys, slow down :)

I was just saying it’s either one of these things, not all of them and exclusively and every time. If you have awesome support and still 4 stars, you probably pissed them off by SOMETHING . There is no way your item can be perfect if you have less then 5 stars. You just need to find out what pissed them off. It can be support, code, compatibility, bugs, behavior, limitation, documentation, ANYTHING . ok? :)

For example I’ve got 2 items on codecanyon with 4 stars atm. Feel free to have a look at them. They look really good, the code is as best as it can possible be, even in terms of cross-browser compatibility.

But my GUESSES what caused only 4 star rating so far are:

  • it’s CSS3 which means it sucks in older IEs.
  • They thought the tooltips will have integrated script for “hovering”.

And both of these means the buyers (who rated) have little to none knowledge about this field or they just didn’t noticed it’s CSS ONLY category, which is not my fault. It’s the same thing like “I’ve loaded up your HTML template into WP and it doesn’t work.”

I am sure there can be more reasons why they rated 4 stars, but these are just my quick guesses.

What I was going to say is that there MUST be reasons why they vote less than 5 stars. And you should find them, somehow.

This is also an issue – I’ve had a couple of times complaints from buyers downloading HTML template – why it isn’t a WordPress theme…

Your items have 4-5 ratings, that’s what I was talking about.

Anyway, some of the top authors also have less than 5 stars, so it’s not a big deal, but it looks ugly.

this was many times discussed before…

it would be good if ratings would be removed by now, 90% of the buyers doesn’t rate anyway, so where’s the logic behind that…. cause as Fulltank said, by 50 sales it’s the opinion of 5 people making a rate…. or 10 people of 500

in my opinion ratings are useless

To sum it up:

Ratings are kinda useless.

Sales are slow for almost everybody, I can confirm that hehe. It began since the whole football/soccer mania.

@kayapati: I would really suggest you to ask your buyers why they rate lower than 5 stars if you were experiencing slow sales even before this football season.
