I know very little about how email works, but we use Mandrill for our transactional emails.

All of our site’s emails get sent via Mandrill and I noticed today that support requests sent via the contact form on our site, (which go via Mandrill to ZenDesk) are getting lost in the abyss of cyberspace.

Mandrill was reporting them as ‘Delivered’ but they were never getting lodged as tickets. I’ve contacted their support for help as things were working fine.

Maybe it’s something Mandrill have changed, rather than Envato.

Edit: When sending via my contact form straight to my Gmail account, it works fine. Anything that seems to involve forwarding and auto-replies seems to get lost.

Edit2: When sending straight to the email address that forwards to ZenDesk, it works fine, it just seems to not work when sent via Mandrill.

I don’t know if any of this will help, but it seems that there’s a common denominator.

Sadly, no. I’m wondering if the Google Mail API might provide an opportunity for a solution. Had a quick look through the docs and nothing is jumping out at me, though.

Correct me if I’m wrong but are you just trying to send a email back to the user to say where to get support or something, if so you may be able to do a cron to go into googles mail server (IMAP) and then get the email information eg, from or reply-to and then send them a email that way?

Maybe I’m thinking of something else I’m not sure… and If that works and you need it instant, you can sign up to mandrill to manage your incoming email and then you could make an API type thing where mandrill pipe all the emails to x address to a php application.

Let me know if any of that helps.

Not yet :) The ticket still needs to be assigned to the proper Giant Head.

The appropriate Giant Head (Charlie) is looking into this right now.

I’ve tweaked the mailer so that it now sends out emails with a Reply-To header.

Let us know if that helps :)

Doesn’t work here. :(

Auto responder get send to the “Return-Path” which is also used for bounces. Reply to only works from the mail client. If there’s no “Return-Path” in the header the “Sender” will be used.

In previous version you have sent via an Envato server and the “Return-Path” was the users email address
