This is my idea:
I would like to auto response customers with a short message who send a message from my profile page but don’t send a message to other notifications, like purchase information, forum replies and other Envato related stuff. So I set up an Google Account which can handle all my wishes (and even more). I hope someone can find this useful. I’ve used many images but don’t be scared each step is done very quickly
Step 1
Follow this link and register your domain (this doesn’t affect your website only your emails). In my case it’s revaxarts-themes.com
Step 2
Insert some basic information about yourself
and hit the register button
Step 3
Now you have to confirm your domain.
Google offers several methods to do this step. I took the “upload an HTML ”:

After you have confirmed your domain you have to configure you MX Records
Step 4
Click on “Direct emails to Google Apps Mail”
Follow the steps (click next) until you reach “Set up Gmail” and use Google servers

Setup the MX Records at your hosting provider to the Google addresses

This can look different on your hosting providers control panel:

Now confirm you changes:
Now you have to wait up to 48 hours (or maybe only 30 minutes)
Try sending a test email to your desired address to check if it works
Step 5
Go to Settings > Labs and search for “Canned Responses” by Chad P in the list, click Enable and “Save Changes”
Step 6
Now you can write you auto response message by clicking the “Compose” button. If you have finished your words click on the “Canned responses” right under the subject line
Specify a name for your auto response
Step 7
Now create a new filter under Settings > Filter.Use
] Message sent via your marketplace profile fromas subject and check the “Send canned response” check box

You can set up more filters too!
You may have to wait up to 24 hours to get this to work around the world
All the best

Why don’t you just create a regular @gmail account and use the vacation responder?

Yeah I get that you want to use your own domain, and that’s definitely useful. I was just basing off of this threads’ title. Either way, thanks for the amazingly detailed guide.

Has anyone else noticed that this has stopped working as of yesterday? It seems Envato has changed the return-path header to a Mandrill bounce address. So customers are no longer getting the auto-reply. I haven’t been able to find a way to have Canned Responses reply to the From field rather than the return path.
Anyone else have any luck?

Your’re right, doesn’t work for me either. Maybe I should go with a custom solution

I wonder if it would help if Envato added a reply-to header rather than just ‘from’? Perhaps that would trump the return-path when Canned Responses chooses where to send the reply. Too bad we can’t see/edit the Labs code – it’s powerful but not very configurable.

Yer my autoreplies have stopped working.
Bugger, I think a lot of authors would be using autoreplies on their contact forms.
Flagged for staff reply, hopefully can get this issue infront of a dev soon!
