Hey guys… I am going to be updating a bunch of my tracks over the next couple of weeks to implement some key things I’ve learned here on the forums.
After I do the updates though, would the people that have bought some of my tracks be able to go back to their “downloads” section and re-download them? If yes how do I let them (my previous buyers) know that there has been an update?
I know that the themeforest authors and others have spoken about keeping their files up to date, but how do they contact their previous buyers to tell them there has been an update?
Thanks for the insight.

For clarity, the problem is that I do not know who bought my items. Is this information available somewhere and I’m overlooking it?
- Exclusive Author
- Sold between 250 000 and 1 000 000 dollars
- Has been a member for 4-5 years
- Author was Featured
- Item was Featured
- Bought between 10 and 49 items
- Referred between 10 and 49 users
- Author had a File in an Envato Bundle
I don’t think the “Themeforest” authors contact their pervious buyers to let them know of the item update. But you can just write in your file description that the file was updated.
I don’t see any reason that someone who purchesed the audio file will wait for any updates.
They just use the music in their projects.

Good point @soundroll … I guess I should just update the files in question (make a comment) and leave it. At this point I’m just updating due to quality and one-time lessons learned anyways, so I’ll just be updating these files and then applying that knowledge to any subsequent tracks without the need for an update.
Hmm. It might still be handy to know who the buyers were, but you’re point definitely stands to resolve my question.
Thank you

I was thinking of freshening up a few tracks myself. I was going to put some links on my den page. I know when you go into your download area as a buyer you can grab something you bought again. Maybe those two together would serve your purpose?

Hey Rob thanks for the reply. When you say “maybe those two together would…” do you mean that I should just make a note on my profile page of the update and then those buyers who follow me will hopefully see it and then go to their downloads page?
Thanks.

Yeah. I would love for buyers to be able to opt-in to a mailing list but that can be abused easily. I think that would be the most effective way at the moment.
