I know how to create a favicon, but does anyone know how to customize the area around the favicon similar to this:
I believe that red and blue border is part of the favicon, if thats what your talking about.
The blue area around the favicon of the graph – not sure what it’s called, most sites just show the favicon, on the default browser skin (usually gray) without the wording or custom color.
Oh thats part of the browser…im guessing your using chrome, or firefox….ahhh I can’t remember what browser I saw this on!!
It only seems to change when I login to a site – The above example is when I log into Google Analytics, before I log in, the browser and favicon look like this:
It must mean your secure or something, or your logged in…who knows!!!
When you’ve got the blue bar there, it means you’re logged into a https site. The S, as we’re all aware of, stands for secure. This is why site’s like, Google have the blue bar there. If I’m not mistaking, PayPal has something similar. Depending on which browser you’re using.
So to keep it short, it stands for security. It’s only a type of mark to let you know you’re on a secure site.
