I didn’t do any of the things you said MUST be done, and I’ve sold 100K+ so…

Take it easy michaelhejja, charles simply gives us some valuable tips. It’s not a matter of who’s got the biggest wallet, it’s about sharing with the community.

Besides, we’re all equals, we’re all humans.

Exactly, arrogance isn’t good for anybody. It doesn’t really matter if you made $100 or $1,000,000.

Right, right, but you don’t find it arrogant that somebody who has only been on Envato a month and hasn’t achieved anything yet is telling everybody that they MUST (in caps) do his seven step program if they too want to be successful…

He doesn’t have the track record, sorry.

Name one thing in his post that you didn’t already know. Just one. It’s just a bunch of words that mean nothing. Simple self promotion and arrogance.

1. Go to ‘POPULAR ITEMS ’ and take a good look at the best-selling items in Envato marketplaces. See its complexity, study it and come up with a more superior approach. It is also advisable for you to purchase the item because it will help you to see what the author did in order to achieve such professional artwork. Bear in mind that you MUST NOT in anyway violate Envato marketplace license by reselling or copyrighting the file in whole without purchasing the full license which is different from the regular license. See this page for more details: http://wiki.envato.com/support/legal-terms/licensing-terms/

What a tragedy! This is not an ethical advice (as a 1st step?), it is an underground hint to destroy reputation of those who originally managed to come-up with concepts that “sells”. Btw, who cares about the value of concepts, nowadays it seems okay to copy (save time) and invest time only on “making file look not copied”. I think the advice should be reverse in an ethical / professional world.

Instead of pointing controversial steps, 2 words could be enough to convey in a professional way:
“Observe demand”

For authors having problem with “FILE APPROVAL ” feel free to read this post published in Envato notes by ‘Ben Gibbin(Reviewer)’ titled: “Getting Your File Approved on GraphicRiver”. http://notes.envato.com/submission-tips-2/getting-your-file-approved-on-graphicriver-part-1/

I believe this post will help a good number of authors. You can also write and post inspirational tips that can improve Envato marketplaces.

Yeah right but it could be harmful/diverting as a 1st step. Just the order of advice that makes worry, otherwise fine. There is a difference between staff / reviewer saying “look at the popular file and observe the quality/standards ” and a co-author saying “start by looking at popular files”.
