If a theme has 300 buyers and among those 300, if atleast 100 of them converted into actual website and each site viewed by 10-20 viewers per day through 3 different devices, then the result will be better only if the author directly tested with those devices. The middle man (our buyer) can’t easily patch the deficiencies most cases since it requires touching the framework – less likely possible. Even a single bug can cause buyer to go crazy and make author to purchase a device! Its the reality!
