I remember my school days when the Principal of our school would often tell us to appreciate life and live in the moment, as if there would be no tomorrow. I would use this as an excuse to spend a chunk of my saved pocket money on gums and candies. In my heart, I knew I was wrong. Looking back now, I think I probably wasn’t.

Living in present doesn’t necessarily mean to resolve our present desires urgently. In fact the reality calls us to go through even bitter moments fullest without ignoring present-connection. I would say your Principal confused you!

I give this thing to importance because, I noticed most of the schools (in my local) also started preeching the same without considering how the students will actually receive! This subject became more of a “quick – advice – package” element than sharing a way of living :D

In fact it seems kids and teens naturally goes through present (as they are less currupted) and this advice should go directly to parent-age people who starts losing observation/presense towards present! ;)
