I’ve also come across some html protector software – has anyone had any experience in using any of these apps that hide your source code?
Are you talking about html encrypter?

The mos tools just encrypt the html part. This is NOT secure. You can easily see the code with tools like Firebug. There Is no way you can really hide your HTML because it is client side based.

+1. The browser reads the HTML . The user can also just “save page as HTML only” and would get the html. You can protect your javascript and css if you’re smart enough and the user is dumb enough

I came across html protector – there are a few others that do the same thing or similar, I was wondering if there is any merit in these apps

Short: no. If you would hide HTML the browser couldn’t show it. You can’t encrypt it so nobody can use it because the browser couldn’t use it, too. In my opinion all programs I saw were a waste of money. I could bet with you that if you will use this program I give you the source code in under 10 minutes. If a thief wants your HTML code he will get it.
Myows for a start!![]()

np. I just thought that it could work as double protection along with meows.
Exactly. You cannot hide the html from browser. But it can be encrypted so that not many general thieves can get a clue about what’s written in the code. Sure it can be decrypted as well but as I said, I think it can reduce the risk of code theft from coders who don’t know about it atm. May be or may be not. Just my opinion.Short: no.
