Wait don’t lock it yet, still haven’t figured out the solution to this Arabic issue.. yoh you guys have become hardcore

No good news from my side. I made a work with RTL russian, and what happened when i copy/pasted the text from the doc where that flash was pasting it in a “reverse” side, like if the move the position of all characters. This was long time ago, but after looking for a solution, i finally ended up copy / pasting into illustrator (which seemed to do the right job) in plain arial and pasting again in flash as vector shapes.

I know this can’t work for dynamic text, but my project had a large amount of text and this was the only way i found (once upon a time) to solve it without loosing the client.

Hey kid`o .

There is 7 languish that read & write RTL as far as I know Russian is not one of them . Turkish and Russian are different story with flash, basically you just need to make sure you have good font that support all there text syntax in the font ,cos` when you embed it then the problem start .

I’ll give you tip Pez since i know you use AS2 only and you will never use the TLF text engine (that also a sad story with RTL ) if you so have a reverse issue and you can’t solve the problem with coding there is fonts for RTL family type call X_font many flashers use it as this already set the font as mirror so this will solve you the reverse text when you embed it .

Many just don’t understand the issue is with the xml or text pad ,when you start to type your RTL its ok but the moment you enter or break a line or mix it with Latino on the same line on the xml or text pad punctuation like (,.:?{..,`) since you must shift to Latino again to use punctuation or Latino text then things start to get massy again. Copy past is not a solution cos` the end user who know RTL will type his text and it will break the text in most case anyway.

Again the solution is to make custom xml/html editor that defined all this and spice it with code and good css, or you can buy my fully RTL solution app that will cost you $1800 after discount cos` I know you Pez, what are friends for (class are not included and for DS is a flat rate $2400) .
