Sorry, but it will not be approved. You also need to clarify whether you’ll be submitting it to the PSD , Wordpress or HTML /CSS category – the quality-standards are quite different between these.

Concerning your theme, take these words of advice:
- too simple (!)
- typography (font size, font padding/margin)

(!) If you are planing on creating a very simple, minimalistic theme (which I don’t think, but just in case..) you should make sure that the typography has a hierarchical order, that the fonts displayed are beautiful, clean and professional.

Good luck ;)

Hi bigtreat. Welcome to the Envato Marketplaces.

Nice to see you around here. I took the liberty of inspecting the design and here are my suggestions just some thoughts to help you out:

• As crozer said it, typography is an issue in your design. There are many mistakes and I do not want to get into the details. I would suggest you to take a look at this info about typography. If you follow those your design will surely feel a lot better: http://blog.themeforest.net/resources/10-typography-tips-for-web-designers/

• In the design itself I see some problems with your header. You used a linear gradient but there is no highlight in the middle. (It is often used in today’s web design). Notice how this theme has a highlight in the middle of the header. (Switch to the second screenshot there) http://themeforest.net/theme_previews/117367-showtime-business-and-portfolio-wordpress-theme Notice how this theme has it too. Switch here to the second screenshot too: http://themeforest.net/theme_previews/114530-revolution-magazine

• Speaking of gradients. Notice how there is a banding issue there? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colour_banding) To avoid this use a noise layer over that gradient or better yet. Use a gradient layer with a vector mask and remember to click on “dither” to avoid banding. I explained how to create this some time ago. Take a look at it here: http://graphicriver.net/forums/thread/ps-gradient-overlay-dithering/25330?page=1#233465 (Third post in the thread) another thing you can do is to use colors that are “closer to each other” So banding will not be that big of an issue.

• About the big bar with the “Lorem ipsum” text: First of all… the font is just not good. This might be my personal opinion, but I do not see this font as a good choice in this design. Second thought: The shape itself is not pixel-perfect. If you zoom a lot into that border of the shape, you will notice that it is not a clear border. It looks as if there is another color there… that’s because the border is not in line with the pixels… but between two pixels rows. (Turn on your grid in Photoshop and you will notice it). Third thought: The about US button you used there does not look good. It looks more as if there was a piece of the shape missing. Try to improve the idea there.

• The thumbnails of the recent projects: Turn on your grid or draw a guide right underneath one of the thumbnails. Notice how there are thumbnails that are not inline to each other. All thumbnails should be aligned. Another thing: Why do some thumbnails have a white border at all sides, some have no border at the bottom and some have a huge white border at the top? Be consistent and use the same design for all thumbnails. I would suggest you to work with the grid in order to see the spaces you are leaving around the thumbnails.

• Why are your arrows for the thumbnails outside of the design? They should be inside of the 940px wide space. Do not get outside that grid if you work with it. As an example look at the arrows (more of a + and a – instead of arrows) in this design: notice how they are inside the grid http://themeforest.net/item/london-creative-portfolio-blog-wp-theme/full_screen_preview/70613

• Try to use 1px lines of highlights on the big bar with the lorem ipsum text and other shapes. Look at this design for example. Zoom in really close to the footer and notice how there is a 1px line as a border on top. The color is lighter than the main color of the shape http://themeforest.net/item/prosto-business-portfolio-cms-wordpress-theme/full_screen_preview/102796.

• The grey line at the end. Just over the copyright notice in the footer. Does not look good. Change that color.

• Do not know how to explain this. But there is a feel of “simplicity” in your design. That word can be positive or negative… a simple design can be good but in this case it feels as if something was not there. Try improving the details explained above and lets see if it helps to change that feeling.

Those are just some thoughts. Do not feel angry or disappointed. Just work hard on that design, try to change those issues and find more. Look at modern designs from top users for example, to see how experts did it. (Inspire yourself… do not copy!)

I hope I could help you. Bye.

Hans

I can see a tiny mistake on your part that will definitely get your template rejected. On the bottom right it said Designed By: Dream Template.

Dream Template is an actual template that was designed by Dream template.

Just my 2 cents.

The footer’s just like this Dream Template:

Even the widget titles are exactly the same (About, Services, Media, Blog….)

And the “Design by [Company Name]” doesn’t help too, sounds like a “customization” of an existing template
