:) Hi people! I want to upload some groove metal stuff of the rock band I play in. I really love this composition. But I’m plagued by doubts that the track isn’t great for AJ. Hard and heavy stuff doesn’t seem to sell well enough these days. I’ve got two awesome metal works that fell short of expectations Iron and Rock Box. Well, I think it is useless to upload. What d’you guys think? Here is it, but demo quality. It’s not 100% ready yet. https://soundcloud.com/russell-g-2/hu-man-out-of-the-way-demo

No it definitely doesn’t sound bad, you should always “try” to submit something so that if it happens to succeed you save a bit of time. I would recommend messing a little bit with the equalization though to make it sharper with some mid and low tones as well as panning to the right a little through most of the track and near the end section pan to the left a little.

Thanks but the question isn’t about the sound. It’s just demo.

Worth a shot yeah, if re-recorded and mixed. Rock music may not be as desired as corp stuff here, but there is definitely a market.

I know you don’t want comments on the sound but I have to say the performance really needs tightening up before it can sound good, especially when producing that style of music, it’s all about good timing.

Good luck :)

Agreed! Along with performance tightening, I’d say it’s a bit too “boxy” sounding. I can almost see the room/ garage you recorded in. I’ve seen a lot of AJ items get rejected because of this, so it’s worth looking into. Try going for a more “in your face” sound instead of “in the distance”. Good luck :)

:) Do you hear me guys?! Sound and timing are no matter now. This thing will be re-tracked, mixed and mastered when it’s finished. There are a lot of work at this one (lyrics, lead-vocal, back-vocals, guitars). Of course I’ll submit it without any vocals. It’ll be just another stuff having no sales I think. Would be great if I’m wrong. Thank you so much for your replies and luck. Cheers! ;)
