Hey guys, I open this thread because the market is going adrift. I would like to make constructive criticism to our market.

There are too many new users who sign up every day and start to sell ripped items. This is shameful, every day there are thousands. :S

We need to find appropriate solutions. The reviewers obviously can not remember all the items in the market and therefore do not give the blame on them. But we must also raise the level of this market, there are items, which in addition to being stolen, they are really extremely low level.

The solution with regard to new authors, it would be to insert at the time of enrollment (in addition to acceptance tests) a window where you are linking to its portfolio. By doing so, reviewers or staff, may decide whether or not to accept the new seller.

We have to give a twist to this market because, I repeat, the level fell monstrously. But it seems that Envato prefer the quantity than the quality. :(

It’s just to easy to become an author and sell any stuff, there should be definitely some kind of quality check by persons portfolio before becoming an author.

Yes it should be easy as it is now to become buyer, but not a selling author.

Maybe we also made mistake by advertising our works on DeviantArt site, cuz I think we gathered to much wannabea kids from there?

This is what i called rejection anomalies. Inconsequent, suddenness spilling. Based on subjective decisions. And sometimes the pricing is also the same. The problem is not with the reviewer but in the present system (i would’t call logic) what they have to follow.

Perhaps a fair way to deal with this problem would be in a separate independent discussion forum, like a Public Facebook Page, where authors could openly discuss with one another any items which they feel are plagiarism or copyright violations.

Hopefully it would not devolve into a war zone, but any author could calmly state his/her case, and anyone would be free to give their opinions in support or defence; not in an accusatory way, but an educational way, so that we can all learn where the boundaries are in this very grey area.

Authors would have to link to their portfolios on the page too so that everyone can see how their work has developed to the point of the item concerned. I think the real ‘rippers’ would quickly find themselves in the spotlight.

This would also take the burden off Envato, but they would obviously have access to all the discussions and opinions between professional designers to help direct them to serious issues.

Just my few cents worth as an ‘older’ less flammable ego :)

Hahaha, they are clever. I bet he was writing “Get Me Outta Here” in Simianese.

I agree with the open forum but one can’t stop it from being a war zone if the file is already approved. There are a lot of excuse people could come up with and no serious outcome would be possible.

Solution option as “Dekurvajo” mentioned but altered a little:
  • Start a new private service on the profile page which will re-review a specific product.
  • Select accused product which you believe has been traced, altered or copied.
  • Properly describe why & what areas to be considered from the accused market product.
  • The reviewer will compare both designed based on some of his common sense & if found suspicious, he will notify the author for reasoning.
  • If proved infringement of design copyright, discard the item and ban the author/account from selling and uploading any product.

I agree that this process is already there called is flagging. But I believe this should be fast and straight forward easy. Also this discussion should remain between the reviewer and the claimer. Where the reviewer deals with the accused author separately. Asking other authors to participate will be a bad idea as that would be very one sided if the accused author did not copy the design. Also it would affect future sales or set a wrong impression against the accused author.

I also believe becoming an author should be a little more challenging because there are tons of website available for you where you can copy the test options and select the right alternative for signing up. It may sound bizarre but before becoming an author, give the user a fictional project based on a selected field of choice. And review that design on the account of that specific genre parameters. If the design is good to go, welcome the author aboard to sell his designs. If not then ask them to resubmit just like a Hard Reject. I don’t believe asking for a portfolio would be a great idea as many authors might not have full fledged portfolio.

I don’t know I could be wrong but I shared what could be an option.
