“But then, not everyone is Google. According to web analytics firm GoSquared, worldwide internet traffic dipped by a stunning 40 per cent during the brief minutes that the Chocolate Factory’s services were offline.”

“Fortunately for all of us, everything seemed to come back online minutes later. But exactly how an operation like Google’s can even go dark like that, all at once, is anybody’s guess.”

It did happen.

I was in the process of checking my Gmail accounts when it happened. I though it was my internet connection or something wrong with my ISP.

Then my Server & Website monitor script caught it and sent a text to my phone telling me Google was down – I was like “wow – that’s unusual!!”

Yeah, precisely! And I don’t think there is a common thread, or link, which can be used to bring down all the things together. All their services must be independent.

Yes. Even if 10 or 100 servers went done their service will still be available.

Google is great and very powerful company, and I respect them for that. The question is – how and when will they make use of it ;)
