I joined 2 years ago, uploaded about 2 tracks per week for a while but now I don’t upload that often anymore (maybe one per month now). I almost only do epic / hybrid trailer music. Tried some “happy motivational” tracks but that’s just not my thing :) For the last 3 months I had 250 sales per month on avarage.

8-) Congrats MartijndeBont ! You really deserve it. Your tracks are Pro Quality! Keep up the good work!

I think I’ll have to stick to my day job for a while but, who knows, maybe in future… meanwhile I love having a show room for my tracks and AJ has provided that perfectly . No hassle, no deadlines, just music creation as I choose and love!

I could live from it but I choose not to simply because AJ isn’t a very steady income. I’m making quite some bucks right now, but will I still have the same amount of sales next year, or the year after that? I don’t know, so I decided to keep my daytime job next to composing music.

Ditto (or at least from all marketplaces, not just AJ). If I could be guaranteed that the amount I was making would stay the same or grow I might be tempted, but you never know what might happen going forward. If I were single, I’d probably do it, but since I’ve got the family I need the security of the day job.

It is nice to know that there’s a backup plan if something happens with my job or industry, though :)

Yeah thats sounds like a safe option! How long have you been an author on audio jungle now? How many tracks have you roughly got uploaded? Always interested! Cheers!

Anyone else as well?

AudioJungle definitely does help cover part of my rent, but is by no means my sole source of income. You’d have to be a top 100 author to even consider making it a full time thing or be heavily invested in other sites as well. Even so plenty of top 100 authors still keep other jobs as the income stream is so unpredictable from AudioJungle.

For example, my earnings from January were less than half my earnings in March. Getting a bad month like I did in January really reminds you how volatile the marketplace really is.

Safe, but a bit frustrating because I can focus on neither and therefore am not reaching my potential in either. On the other hand having the double income is pretty awesome, and I’m saving like mad, paying down the mortgage, and building up my arsenal of equipment for when the time comes to commit one way or the other.

I’ve been an author since September 2009, so this year will be my 4 year anniversary on AJ. I have about 185 tracks on AJ (JHunger profile), though I think about 15 of those are packs so about 170 unique songs. I hope to add another 60 or so to that during the remainder of this year, and keep a pace of 100 songs a year if I can manage it.

IMHO it depends on where you live. Living in a country with poor salaries and weak socials can make your decision easier. I think the safe limit is earning from stocks 2-3 times better than average salary in your country. It’s rather hard to reach in most countries.

Exactly. Here, in Serbia, average salary is about 300$. Ofcourse, if you are lucky to find some regular job.

Same here in Czech Republic – but the average salary is a bit higher about 600-800$ – and of course only if you find a job too – same as in Serbia :(
