Just a random idea here: most forum threads are either requests for custom work to existing files or requests for projects but are mostly unmoderated and have little protection for buyer/author. What if FlashDen could implement a separate section for the freelance work which could offer more security. There could be a separate forum where members could opt-in to take part. Payment could be done from one FlashDen account to another.

Here’s a scenario:

A client wants to do a custom project… he signs up to the freelance section and submits a request. Each request must have an explanation of what needs to be done, time frame and payment amount for the project etc. Authors who are interested can submit requests to do the work and the client can choose which author is suited for the job. Before commencing work the client must pay the full amount which is held by FlashDen and is released to the author on project completion. When the author shows work to the client it is all done within a preview environment. Once the client is happy with the final preview, payment goes through to the author and client is released the working files all done through the FlashDen site. FlashDen could even make commission on each freelance job to make this profitable to implement. There could be moderators who could keep an eye on each project and address any issues that my happen. Anyone breaking the rules could be blocked from the freelance section.

In the case of a custom work to an existing FlashDen file, the author needs to have purchased the file before doing the custom work. This could be automatically deducted from the amount held by FlashDen when the author agrees to do the project. This system can also block those ‘buyers’ who have obtained FlashDen files illegally and are trying to request custom work without a purchase history.

It’s really a great idea and should have been implemented a long time ago. But doesn’t Envato already have FreelanceSwitch?

yeh something like freelanceswitch customised for FlashDen files with all the the features mentioned would be perfect.

I guess we were typing at the same time

we could all try to get everyone to use freelanceswitch but that’s not going to stop freelance requests from popping up on the main forum. The whole idea is to move all freelance work to a moderated environment and anything freelance on the main forum would be removed… to protect buyers and authors and also the files that are being sold here
