heyy! 
built a new theme quite similar to my previous theme, It got rejected :/ on the grounds of uniqueness and that its similar to the other theme. I didn’t realize submitting similar items is not allowed. Please advice How I could improve this and make it look different

hi ragzor , i think submit similar items its changed the concept, just keep some layouts , your theme has good effects , try to doing something newer , your portfolio is equal to your other theme , change the filter , put styles ..

The first thing that comes to my mind is that there is no footer or copyright line. I think this is a must.
Also try to add some hover animations to make things more interesting. You have to add a dropdown or sub menu at least 1 level subs. There is not a lot of contrast the whole thing looks white to me. The page titles look oddly out of place in the center should be to the left.
I think that the slide animation is cool but the rest of the template needs more graphical elements colors and so on. Not a bad concept so just work on it and get it looking sexy.
