while you here got a question for ya….I recently updated my thumbnail images but the ones in the popular files last three months is not showing properly. sometimes when I refresh the thumbs are there and sometimes it just shows a number… how can it be fixed?

I had this problem, but it eventually fixed itself after a day or so.

it wasn’t working on the popular files for the week page too but after it ticked over today it correct it self but I’m thinking that the top files for last 3 months will only correct it self at the end of this month when it ticks over

Things that take a long time to calculate, such as popular files over three months, are cached to keep page response times as quick as possible. We cache most things for 24 hours. However, we have more than one web-server, and each web-server has more than one application instance, so it will take a while for all of the instances to be up-to-date. This is why you can refresh your page and see different results – because you are hitting the servers/instances at random.

That said, we will have to do something about displaying out-of-date thumbnails/avatars, because this is an annoying side-effect of caching. Thanks for bringing it up.
