So basically, this is for when my gmail crashes?...so in case their cloud hosting service crashes, meaning that multiple data centers all over the world go up in flames etc. so that I lose my data?

I might be a sheep, but I trust Google.

I also trust Google. They are the best in this field. But, keeping backups for everything always turns to be good. :)

For me the downtime was seamless… I can live with that.

LOL

Google is a very reliable company. They spend a lot of money to prevent that one of there products crashes and lose data.
