Has anyone used buysellads.com? I’m just looking at it now and wondering if it’s worth investing any time or effort into, or to just stick with Google Ads.

Thoughts on a postcard, or just click reply :)

BuySellAds is very popular (especially in the web-oriented community) but I couldn’t tell ya how the numbers stack up as I’ve never used it before.

I offer a load of freebie stuff alongside pluging my envato items. But I’ve been a looking around and a lot of design related ads do seem to be served from them, a lot of the ads served by google seem a little off topic.

Just don’t want to work out how the service works, plumb it into my site and for not much payback :/

I think it is quite good, I know that alot of people use it for freebie advertising and stuff. I have though about doing it as well. I wanted to test out some of the web banner designs I made ;)

I may try it later, its not very expensive for small sites, so I think it could turn a profit if done correctly. For example if you make tutorials and then advertise those on like psdtuts+ it could go well. Or advertise premium patterns, etc. on a pattern site. Its always worth a try!

Sounds positive, I’m not actually thinking of advertising my items, rather thinking of displaying there ads on my site. By the sounds of things though it does sound worth a try. I just don’t particularly want empty ad blocks on my site, I don’t have many slots, but blank spaces look rubbish.

I used buyselladds some time ago for a couple of my old AD files.
If you want to take the most of the ads, you have to carefully choose the media, not only because the different banner prices (some huge), but also for targeting. I mean, if your intention is to promote the files, think of readers, etc. But if your objetive are referals, then choose sites not related with design/dev, for example.

I can’t tell you exactly which sales came from the banners (Envato analytics tool is just annoying imho) but anyway the expense was not high at all, and i guess just with referals i got was worth it.

Apart from this, Buysellads site and authoring system is pretty well built.

I’ve used BSA , and without any luck I’m afraid. I did manage to get half-decent clickthrough rates (at around 1%), but the ads are too expensive for it to make sense. Since you are selling graphicriver items, I’ll assume the ads will be too expensive for you too.

You can check if anyone is actually buying anything, but making a new Marketplace account, and using that new accounts referral link in your ads.

For me, even though I got a decent clickthrough rate, I got almost no sales, so can’t recommend. Trying AdWords next time, seems like the better option.

EDIT : Ah misread, seems your selling ads on your site :) In that case, it’s pretty simple, no? Just look at what other websites with the same amount of traffic can charge, and how full their ads generally are, and compare it to what you make with adwords!
