I’m close to open sourcing a library of mine called Tr.ace() for extending and managing the trace functionality within AS3
I wondered if a few of you would like to give it a quick go and let me know what you think, any suggestions etc before I release it via ActiveTuts
If you’d like to either shoot me a message via my profile page or leave a comment in this thread
Thanks!

Awesome
Some suggestions:
- possiility for unlimted params, for example – trace(totalWidth, totalHeight); - different colored traces for example trace.log(totalWidth); trace.info(totalWidth);

different colours for the output is only available in FlashDevelop as far as i’m aware…
for multiple arguments, how would you want them formatted? like a | b | c etc…?

Havent had the chance to look at it yet, but would like to suggest to do it comma separated. So when you trace(x, y, z) it shows exactly that and not (x | y | z). (Or (x y z) as the normal trace() does that, which sometimes annoys me

but what if one of them in an Array? it’ll automatically trace out like a, b, c… guess I could format it differently… hmm…

You can make custom output window like Vizzy which grants you much more control over the output format and IDE independent. You can use AIR to code the custom window app so everyone don’t need IDE to see the output.
