Beta feature: Similar items

Hey!

Some of you may have noticed that there’s a list of similar items under the “More items by <author>” on item pages. This is a beta feature we’re trying out to see how effective it is on AudioJungle. It’s very similar to the feature we have on PhotoDune and it’s extremely effective at giving more item views for all authors. Not only that, it helps customers find the most suitable music for their project more quickly.

We’ll be analysing the stats on how effective this is over the next few weeks so stay tuned for a Notes post about it!

Question: will this lead (eventually) to option that will allow author to interlink their own similar items automatically, instead of writing html code all over the place (like it is now)?

Something like that I can’t say much about it, sorry!

Nice, but not so effective so far … It search songs by tags (probably), but there are no rules about ’’importance” of tags, so e.g. my classic piano song with hip-hop beat shows hip-hop tracks as similar …

Must agree with DamianN,

If you could implement something like Apple’s iTune Genius software, this might be more useful. Try contacting Apple. hehe.

But I like the idea. Just not sure that it will be that useful in its current state.

I think as long as it helps propel the clients search through the sites materials and also let older forgotten but really solid tracks pop up to stir the pot then it’s a great idea and I’m all for it.
