Hi all,
I’m looking for a good quality headphone for music production. Do your have any recommendation which brand is good or what will be the main criteria you are looking into when selecting a headphone?
Thanks!
Cheers, Iris
I recommend Beyerdynamic DT-770. I’m using this model since 12 years, and they work great for hearing all the nuances needed to make a good mix.

TJMusic saidYep, I agree with TJ, Beyerdynamic is one of the greatest headphones brand for music production. Personally, i’m using the DT-990 model since 5 years… And it’s always a pleasure to work with it !

High and low frequencies are awesome. Don’t hesitate !
I’m using Sennheiser HD-215. Maybe it’s a matter of habit, but i like them very much. As for me their sound is great, and i’ve never felt any head-ache like with the other headphones (for example – beats by dr.dre). Really good headphones for their price.
been using AKG K702 ’s for a year now and wouldnt be without them.they are extremely detailed and easy to wear for hours.i have had 99% of my final mixes accomplished using these.
My advice is for AKG K702 or, depending on budget, AKG K240 (less expensive, but a good semi-open headphone).
...but I would avoid doing the final mix or mastering thru headphones…
I honestly feel that one can mix with just about anything that sounds reasonably well. It’s all up to your ears and what you get comfortable with and learn to trust.

Been using the K702 ’s since 2009. Love them. I had the AKG 240 ’s before that, which were also good – but they’re not the 702’s which are a step up in class.
But like ZtarrZound says, a lot of it is to do with your ears.
