(Locked) Batch of Magento theme - Bad move

DD has the point in the exclusiveness thing, It is quite disturbing to see the double meter in action.

I think Jeff just addressed that… He said it appears to be a mistake that’ll get fixed.

I have to agree with DD here…

Some authors rely on that time on the front page to build up exposure for their item… We all can’t be top authors and have our products constantly show on the Popular Items page or have thousands of followers… so time on the front page is vital…

Pushing a dozen items off the front page to support ONE category and ONE author was the wrong move… and a slap to the face to all those authors who spent many hours working on those items expecting their fair amount of time on the front page…

no matter how hard that is to hear… it was wrong and had I had a theme on there… I’d have been livid…

Look, it’s great the Themeforest offers Magento themes now. Heck, I might even get into it myself in the future. But I just think that 10 new Magento themes a day is still too much. Add that to the number of other (PSD, html and Wordpress) themes approved and it will result in having only 2-3 days of homepage exposure. And as Luckykind pointed out, for some of us the time on the homepage is vital.

Hey guys – Just a note that we won’t be posting ten new Magento items every day. We accepted ten to get the category rolling. At least for now, we’ll set the max at around 5. I think this is perfectly reasonable.

It’s not fair! My theme will be only 3 days on the front page.

Maybe it is a little offtopic but I am interested when are the other ones being launched. Are all of them in the queue as we speak?

I prepared a template different in style and use then what has been launched lately but i really don’t want it to end up in a mass of magento themes from the same author. I would rather wait a few days. Then again maybe everyone will and then we will have the same situation.

I know that people know what they are looking for and will filter and only look in the html template section but still some homepage exposure would be pretty nice

Anyone can submit to this category, and, in fact, we have numerous submissions, from numerous authors, waiting in the queue.

Don’t get me wrong, I am thrilled at the push towards Magento – I myself am working on a Magento theme and at this stage, more files in the category can only help me – but I do agree that this was a mistake.

Can more themes from this particular author be put on hold until the exclusivity issue is resolved? It’s not just a case of claiming exclusivity here. He also claims on his own website that his themes cannot be bought anywhere else (despite being sold here for a lower price).

Personally, I was hoping for a stronger re-launch of the category than this …sorry!

what about copyright infringements mentioned? (i have patient to put this question all day long) for pictures, products and logos? is a magento theme panacea for half of market terms?
