'AWAITING 5 VOTES'

I just added an often-requested feature. Users and items will not show the star rating until they have 5 votes. Many authors have complained in the past that a new item was killed early by one nasty rating. Now it will take 5 nasty ratings to cause the same anguish.

as right as you are Vaisnava, it’s not a secret that sites like this become a hugging fest or a vendetta run. Revostock recently removed their rating system entirely because you could only be 3 types of composers

1: 5/5 2: 1/5 3: not yet rated.

If you wanted to let people know a file was junk, leave a message on the product. Somebody left a warning on one of Music for Media’s horror sound effect packages about how the file was one wav instead of 5 seperate files ooooh, what a big deal :/.

So there are ways to get your voice heard.

Though I welcome this system I doubt it will make a big difference. It will just take longer to become one of those above mentioned three (except the third, EVERYBODY is the third right away! hurray!). I would recommend a system where people can vote during a review for example what they thought of the file, though people who purchased it and voted have a heavier vote.

So If I voted 3 for a product after listening to it, but somebody voted 5 for it after buying it, then the score would be 4.33 instead of 4. Give the purchaser a voting weight of 2 and the reviewer 1.

Something of this style could work.

Unfortunately, if people weren’t misusing the rating systems, this wouldn’t be necessary. It is, however, a more democratic system; a system that allows one person to ruin another’s work with nothing more complicated than a vote is flawed. I think Clinton has done a great job with this and applaud the decision.

Fortunately for AudioJungle buyers, the preview shows you just about everything you need to make an informed decision. Flash files are more complicated as there can be tricky technical issues that get in the way. You can hear the quality and aesthetic of the audio in advance, and all files are thoroughly checked by our reviewers to ensure that there’s no unwanted distortion, clipping, glitches, corruption or otherwise malfunctioning files in the package.

In other words, the previewing system really makes ratings obsolete.

Comments still exist. If a person has a serious problem with a purchase, they can make it known there; I’m sure most prospective buyers read them. And ratings still exist too—we’ve just made the selling environment safer for authors who invest plenty of time and effort into making great content available.

This works for flashden, but there are not as many sales here. How many files actually have 5 votes?

Id expect maybe 5% of all the files here.
