I mostly sell SFX on Audio Jungle. The music that I do put up is just stuff I make here and there for fun. If I didn’t throw it up on here, sadly, most of my tracks would just sit in my hard drive collecting (digital?) dust. Times are changing. In the music industry it is changing for the good and the bad- in different ways. The photographer ruined the painter, video killed the radio star.

Ok guys, maybe this has been covered by another post (I didn’t read through every reply), but I kind of think the prices (from a customer’s point of view) are right on target. Why do I say that? Because the song can only be used in ONE project.

If I purchase a song from somewhere else, I can use it over and over again. So no problem for me paying $50, $100, or $200 for the track. But only one use? Well, if I like your track, I’m going to have to purchase it again and again.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding the license agreement here, but that’s how I’m seeing it.

With other music I have in my library, I don’t need to “re-purchase”. They have metadata attached to them that I can use to file a cue sheet (if needed) that I give to the broadcaster. That gets passed on to the PRO who then pays the author their share. So I can use that song over and over again without taking the time to come back to AJ.

To be honest, I think AJ should have an “unlimited use license”. Pay whatever that price is and we use it as many times as we want indefinitely. I’d pay that price for really good tracks.

Just my thoughts…

Hi there!
This is very interesting ideed…now…I’m fairly new here but there’s one thing I don’t understand…for example:
here in Romania there’s one of the biggest IT stores that has kept using one of audiojungle best sellers in their commercials for months…and my question is:
did they pay 14$ and kept using it in the same commercial that was broadcasted on every program? or did they pay 70$ for the extended?
I honestly think that 14$ would be ridiculous…and 70$ would be somewhere low but still fair enough (considering that u can sell an item thousands of times).
It’s one thing to buy a regular license and use it in one video for example and it’s totally different to use it in a video commercial that runs for months on TV…
and now that I think about it…the extended license is for reselling purposes so in the commercial you are not actually reselling the product…so a regular should be enough…isn’t it?
With that said I have to add that I really love AudioJungle because of the opportunities that gives and there’s no place else like this. I experience total freedom in my writing music and overall the site is very nicely done.
I hope someone elucidates our doubts :)

Cheers!

Improvements to the licensing system with different pricing levels for different types of broadcast use are at the very top of my wishlist for AudioJungle. Hopefully soon?

It’s a huge issue and AJ and authors are both leaving money on the table.

This was kind of an eye opener considering I probably would have been happy with credit too, but when you hear experience talking it wakes you up quick.
