Hi there

I was wondering if there is an option to download the license agreement as a PDF or text document so I can attach it to a file?

I’ve purchased a file for a client and their developer will be coding it – I would like to ensure that there are no misunderstandings regarding the fact that the file is for a single use (vs the standard RF agreement with most of the other files I purchase and source for my clients). Or is the only option I have to direct them to The license wiki?

I agree, users should get a pdf, informing them about envato licenses. That would be a great ideea.

Wonderful idea and one I agree SHOULD be included in the download – Envato would have to attach the PDF to the download once purchased as it will depend on the license purchased by the buyer – should be fairly simple to integrate.

I’ve been thinking about this more and more, but I would love if EVERY sale produced a GUID that was given to the customer or built into the downloaded HTML code as a META tag in the HEAD of the website. There could even be a ThemeForest plugin for WordPress requiring this GUID be entered to validate the theme when first installed.

I’m not proposing something like this to prevent pirating as much as reducing the number of sites that purchase the single license and use it OVER and OVER … Especially with WP3 having multi-site, it’s too easy to violate the license. If there were something like this it could validate against a ThemeForest server on first use to record the domain/site path and the GUID . That way if they try and activate it for another site it would not allow it. Of course there would need to be a way to “update” your registration if the domain changed or the site was moved legitimately, but at least it would make them work a little to get around the minimal registration. For the average WordPress user (who often doesn’t even know how to update a CSS file) this could prevent having 10 sites under one regular license.

I’m not sure why I felt like ranting about this just now on this thread. I guess it’s been a long day because I’m kind of exhausted!

Would work for a 3d model i think. Not a bad idea.

Let’s see if the managers have something to say…

Cheers !

Thanks for the responses – seems I’m not the only one that’s wondered about this.

I made up a PDF of the Regular License for my own use – I pasted the text from the site verbatim and I’ve created links in the PDF back to the marketplace. Here’s the link if anyone else feels they could use it.
